Dream Draymond Green replacements: Jakob Poeltl, Raptors

Jakob Poeltl is the next dream we’ll look at, and here we’re ramping up to more and more unrealistic. While Jerami Grant might be a possibility, Poeltl feels very unlikely for Golden State.

Not only will Poeltl price out of what the Warriors can pay (which, effectively, is $0 as things stand now), he wants to come back to the Raptors, where he started and spent several years of his career.

Poeltl would not be a one-for-one replacement to Green, because he typically plays center, where Green played the four, and small-ball center.

At 7-foot-1, Poeltl is bigger and more of a rim protector than Green was. Green is more of a ranging and all-around defender. That could be precisely what the Warriors need, though. The Warriors ranked 25th in blocked shots in 2023, where Poeltl is good for over one per game.

The troublesome part of the fit is certainly on the offensive side, where Poeltl has next to no presence whatsoever.
