NBA Draft rumors: Paul George available, Lakers moving No. 17, Lillard’s latest preference
NBA Draft rumors: Paul George is being ‘quietly shopped’
According to Marc Stein, the Clippers have been ‘quietly shopping’ Paul George around the league. L.A. has been looking at teams with high picks in this year’s draft in an effort to see how much value George has. In the report, the Rockets and Trail Blazers are mentioned as teams the Clippers reached out to.
The Clippers are at a very interesting place. Kawhi Leonard and Paul George only have one more year on their deals (they each have a player option that they will likely decline). They have not won a title in their years but they have been title contenders almost every season. Among the other problems, both of their star players have not been healthy.
This is a team that has a lot of expiring contracts going forward. It would be very smart for this team to make a move this offseason due to the fact that their core might end up splitting after this season. It also might make sense if this team were to change their star duo due to the fact that both players are injury prone.
Looking for a player that would be able to play a lot more games could make sure that this team doesn’t get as low of a seed in the final weeks of the regular season. The draft is looking more and more interesting as more star trade possibilities emerge.
