Chicago Cubs potential trade candidate: Cody Bellinger

Could the former National League MVP be on the move? Bellinger has certainly done his part on the “prove it” deal (one year, $17.5 million) he signed with the Cubs before the season began, but the big question becomes will he be a part of the Cubs for years to come or will Chicago decide to flip him at the trade deadline?

Bellinger is back from the injured list, but has something to prove in London as he has slashed just .118/.200/.177 in his first five games back with the team. Compare that to the .271/.337/.493 he was putting up before his knee injury and you can see why Cubs fans not only want to see him reignite to help the team, but also to potentially boost his trade value as well.

Playing first base and center field for the Cubs this season, the 27-year-old Bellinger is reminding everyone of his versatility as well. The ability to play different positions will likely be coveted by a team who is interested in him, but Bellinger must get back on the right track at the plate … and London is a great place to do just that.
