Charlotte Hornets fan releases all his feelings at once after Brandon Miller pick
By Kristen Wong
After the Hornets took Brandon Miller second overall in the 2023 NBA Draft, one fan had to make his feelings known: Screw Michael Jordan.
When the Charlotte Hornets selected Alabama’s Brandon Miller with the No. 2 pick of this year’s draft, their fanbase was less than enthused. One might even say they were…mentally unhinged.
Before the draft, Charlotte were briefly linked to prospect Scoot Henderson but went with Miller instead, who many fans believed to be a poor fit in Charlotte. The crowd let the Hornets franchise hear it on Friday night, boos raining down like all the lost opportunities Charlotte has had in recent draft history. In years prior, the Hornets passed on the likes of Giannis Antetokounmpo, Bradley Beal, and Damian Lillard leaving behind a sad, ugly trail of failed developmental prospects — will Miller turn out to be another epic bust?
This Hornets fan is rooting for Miller but expressed just how disillusioned he was with Hornets owner Michael Jordan’s draft choices.
He earnestly tells a reporter on draft night:
"“Michael Jordan. You’ve owned the Hornets since I’ve been a fan. And every time I think you’re about to do bad, you do something worse. We’ve drafted more busts than any franchise. We’ve had put up with so much stuff it has affected my mental to be a fan of this team.”"

At the end of his spiel, he shrugs, shakes his head a little, and says, “I’m rooting for the guy, I guess.” Them’s fighting words for a franchise fighting to stay relevant in 2023.
Per FanSided’s own Christopher Kline, Miller isn’t altogether a terrible pick for the Hornets and may even be a favorite for Rookie of the Year. The Alabama prospect shoots the ball well and could in time grow into a reliable playmaker to share the backcourt with Lamelo Ball.
While the emotional Charlotte fan tries to stay upbeat about Miller’s star potential, he more so criticizes Michael Jordan for being one of the most abysmal drafters in league history. It’s just like John Elway fumbling the bag when he was looking for Broncos quarterbacks, or Wayne Gretzky trying to coach the Coyotes.
It’s no reflection of Jordan’s G.O.A.T. status as a player, but as a front office talent evaluator? He crapped the bed.
Looking ahead into the dim future, Hornets fans have no choice but to begrudgingly turn on their TVs and see how Miller develops in the 2023-24 season. There’s always next year.
