The Hawks are looking to trade for Pascal Siakam this offseason in a very interesting development for Atlanta and Trae Young.

According to Marc Stein, the Hawks have tried trading for Pascal Siakam. However, “Toronto hasn’t been moved by Atlanta’s offers for Siakam to this point.”

This Atlanta Hawks team is in a very interesting situation, as they are looking to get under the luxury tax while at the same time adding more talent.

Based on prior reported restrictions that the Hawks are under, this is a very hard task to do. In all likelihood, they would have to increase their tax bill.

Yes, Atlanta would be getting a lot better if they were able to acquire Siakam, but ownership could get in the way.

This is in addition to the fact the front office is not stable at the top and reportedly gave the go-ahead to trade Trae Young this offseason if the opportunity were to present itself.

Finally, Siakam might not be leaving as he apparently really wants to stay with the Raptors.

The Toronto Raptors are trying to keep their core together despite the fact that they probably can’t make it past the first round of the playoffs. Due to that reality, they could end up trading Siakam this offseason if the right offer presents itself that allows the team to have a lot of flexibility.

What is the Atlanta Hawks’ plan going forward?

This is another credible report that shows the Hawks in disarray going forward. You could give Atlanta’s front office the benefit of the doubt if this isn’t the only wild offseason plotline going on. Addtionally, this report comes from one of the most credible reporters in the league.

Going forward, it is really unclear what this team is going to do. Most likely, the only guaranteed move that this team will be making this offseason is lowering their luxury tax bill this offseason. Still, this move isn’t a complete certainty due to the fact that John Collins would be a trade casualty.

Collins has been involved in trade rumors for a couple of years and Atlanta has yet to move the player. Based on this, it wouldn’t be a horrible bet to make that Collins will end up in a Hawks jersey to start the season.
