Most important targets for the Celtics: 2. Yuta Watanabe

Yuta Watanabe would be a very interesting fit for a team that is looking for minor contributions from minimum contracts. Watanabe has moved around the league in his five seasons. He is very athletic and a very solid shooter from the 3-point line. Beyond that, he doesn’t really offer that much more.

Watanabe could be looking for a chance to win a title and he could end up being the eighth or ninth man in the rotation, producing well in his role very cheaply for the team.

If the team did not want to go for the experienced veteran option, they could make a move for Watanabe. They will not be able to afford mid-tier/lower-rated free agents like Torrey Craig and Jae Crowder due to the fact that this team doesn’t have any cap space.

This is why they will be looking at players who are veteran free agents who want to win an NBA championship or players that are the fringe of the league.  Watanabe fits into the second category but his 3-point shooting is solid and that could be enough for Boston.
