Yankees game today: Cubs-Yankees rain delay update in New York on July 8
Saturday’s game between the Cubs and Yankees looks headed for a rain delay with thunderstorms heading towards Yankee Stadium.
On Friday, the Cubs got their first-ever victory at Yankee Stadium, 3-0. On Saturday, the Yankees looked well on their way to evening the series with a 6-3 lead going into the ninth inning.
The biggest thing to worry about was the weather.
Ominous clouds hung over Yankee Stadium on Saturday afternoon but was it enough for the tarps to come out and the game to be put on hold?

No. There has been no indication the Cubs-Yankees game today is in danger of being canceled.
Cubs-Yankees rain delay update: Will there be a weather delay on July 8?
The bigger concern is the prospect of a weather delay late in the game. However, no official rain delay had been called as of 3:30 p.m. ET.
Giancarlo Stanton started the Yankees off strong with a 447-foot solo blast in the first inning before Josh Donaldson added to the lead with his own homer in the second inning.
Nico Hoerner put the Cubs on the board in the top of the third but Harrison Bader quickly responded in the bottom of the inning with an RBI double for the Yankees.
Stanton launched another two-run home run in the bottom of the fifth as New York took a commanding 6-1 lead.
With the weather delay threat coming closer into view, Mike Tauchman made things on the diamond a bit more interesting with a two-run shot, cutting the Yankees lead to 6-3.
