MLB Rumors: Grading a Yankees trade for Dylan Carlson

Mark Powell of FanSided recently speculated an interesting trade for the St. Louis Cardinals and New York Yankees. In the trade, it would send veteran outfielder Dylan Carlson to the Yankees in exchange for right-handers Clayton Beeter and Yoendrys Gomez.

On the surface, the trade makes sense for both sides. The Yankees are in search for another outfielder and Carlson is a name that has come up internally. The Cardinals, meanwhile, plan to make Tyler O’Neill their full-time left fielder once he comes off the Injured List and have internally identified Beeter as a player of interest in the Yankees’ farm system, as first reported by Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

The Yankees will consider a plethora of outfield options and there will surely be widespread interest in Carlson, if he indeed becomes available. But I like this trade.

Grading the fit: 7.5/10.
