Yankees fans fear Drake Curse after Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton concert appearance
The Yankees now have to worry about the Drake Curse after Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton joined the rapper at his concert.
Things were just starting to look up for the Yankees. They swept the Royals over the weekend and finally have hope of getting Aaron Judge back soon.
But then Drake happened.
By now, sports fans across the country should know about the Drake Curse. The rapper has a bad habit of shouting out an athlete or repping a team’s gear and becoming a bad luck charm for them. Uproxx has a whole list of examples from Serena Williams to the Kentucky Wildcats to the Golden State Warriors. If Drake openly supports you, bad things happen.
Well, on Sunday night Drake had a show at Madison Square Garden. He walked to the stage with Judge and Giancarlo Stanton.
Twitter immediately jumped on the idea that the Drake curse has been activated on the Yankees.
Yankees season declared over because of Drake Curse
Here’s a more positive spin for Yankees fans: They’re already at the bottom of the AL East. What if the Drake Curse works in reverse because they’ve got nowhere to go but up?
It’s been a bit of a nightmare season for New York, even if they do have a winning record. They’re in last place in the division and 8.5 games out of first place. Aaron Judge has missed significant time because of a freak toe injury and Jose Trevino was just lost to season-ending surgery.
Still, the Wild Card is only two games out, so the Yankees still have a chance to see postseason baseball. They just need things to go right between now and October.
The Drake Curse could interfere with that, though that would mean giving Drake credit for something that’s far more likely the fault of Brian Cashman or Aaron Boone when it comes down to it.
