Alabama lands 5-star commitment the offense desperately needs

Alabama football just got the lethal offensive weapon they were looking for in wide receiver Jamie Ffrench Jr., adding more talent to its 2025 recruiting class.

Alabama Crimson Tide recruited wideout Jamie Ffrench Jr. last week, bringing over the five-star recruit from Mandarin High School in Jacksonville, Florida.

Ranked as the No. 4 wide receiver in his class and No. 13 player in the nation according to 247 Sports, Ffrench joins fellow wideout Ryan Williams in Bama’s 2025 class. Alabama football desperately needed the offensive reinforcements this summer to catch up to reigning champions Georgia; the Crimson Tide’s recruiting class arguably stills trails that of the Bulldogs, but it has done enough to pull them away from the rest of the pack.

Ffrench caught 44 passes for 671 yards and five touchdowns last season. Why Alabama over other good schools? He told ESPN that he was a big fan of the school’s coaching staff, particularly of former Notre Dame offensive coordinator Tommy Rees who was brought on this past February.

The 6-foot-2, 185-pound wideout was reportedly choosing between Alabama, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Florida State, and Penn State.

Bama fans everywhere can rejoice. Though the football program already boasts an uber-talented receiving corps for 2023 in Jermaine Burton, Ja’Corey Brooks, Kobe Prentice, and others, locking down Ffrench for the future will give Rees and the offense extra confidence moving forward.

Following Bill O’Brien’s departure to the Patriots this past offseason, Tommy Rees will take over an above-average offense that ranked 11th in the country in total offense with 477.1 yards per game.

Alabama has been trying to equip Rees with as much talent as possible, as seen in its successful recruitment of Ffrench, Williams, running back Anthony Rogers, offensive tackle Mason Short, and guard Dontrell Glover, all members of the 2025 class.

There’s still 18 months to go in the 2025 cycle, and the Crimson Tide will keep looking to inject young talent into its growing offense. Ffrench just happens to be the latest domino to fall.
