Barring an oddity where Kevin Love exercises his player option for the 2015-16 season, last season will be the final year of Kevin Love’s contract with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Rumors have suggested Love, a Southern California native, would love to return and play for his childhood team – the Los Angeles Lakers – but teammate Ricky Rubio isn’t buying the rumors, suggesting he believes Love will stay with the Timberwolves moving forward.

Rubio gave an interview to Baloncesto where he suggested that Love will remain in Minnesota moving forward (via a rough Google translation):

"For us he is a very important player, he’s having a spectacular season and not have to think much beyond the next year. I think it will be here, because he has been given everything and it is hard to leave when you get so many facilities.  The best way to show that we want even more is winning and fighting to the end to get into the playoffs."

Of course, Rubio can’t say much outside of ‘I don’t know’ when pressed with the question, though that has to be relatively positive news for Timberwolves fans.

Love will be a free agent after the end of next season, assuming he doesn’t exercise his player option.
