The Miami Dolphins aren’t exactly known for having great depth at the wide receiver position, and they have reportedly made a move to address the situation with the signing of former Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Kevin Cone.

D. Orlando Ledbetter of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that the 26-year-old Cone is on his way to Miami, and this is a bit of an interesting move. Cone has spent time with the Falcons over the past three seasons, but he has only 1 reception (on 2 targets) in his career, and the speedster is known much more for his stellar special teams play than anything else at this stage.

However, Cone famously ran a 4.37 40 coming out of college at Georgia Tech, and he did see the field a decent amount down the stretch for Atlanta last season, especially given their wide receiver injury issues. Cone is likely still a “project” even at 26 years old (he made only 6 receptions in college), but even if he contributes solely on special teams, there could be value given the small amount it took to acquire him and the amount of physical talent he has displayed.
