If your a fan of a team who is allegedly in the Kevin Love sweepstakes and are hoping for a trade in the days leading up to the NBA Draft, I have bad news for you.

More from Minnesota Timberwolves

According to Steve Kyler of Basketball Insiders, it’s unlikely that Love will be traded before or even during the draft as it’s more likely teams will wait until a new salary cap figure is set.

Answering a fan question about a possible time frame involving a Love trade, Kyler suggested the following:

“No, more possible after July 1st when new cap is set.”

The assumption of many was that the Minnesota Timberwolves would like to make a move before (or during) the draft as they’d be able to secure draft pick assets. It’s an understandable way of thinking and it might be what the Timberwolves are looking for, though fellow NBA teams may prefer to have the cap set itself up before making such a move as it’s likely to give every team a little bit more spending flexibility.

Minnesota will still be able to trade for talent from the 2014 NBA Draft, though, they obviously will be forced into a more difficult scenario since players they have interest in would already be on a different teams roster.

Of course, there could be a team who decides waiting around for the new cap figure isn’t worth it and they might attempt to sneak in with hopes of swaying a Love deal their way.

For now though, Love being traded before or on draft night seems suspect at best.
