Well the long wait is over, and college football fans that have DirecTV as their primary television provider can now rest easy as the SEC Network and the largest satellite company have not only come to an agreement, but everything will be ready in time for the launch later this month on August 14.

More from College Football

The news was broke just a short time ago by ESPN, the main partner of the SEC on this project.

“The SEC boasts powerhouse athletic programs, especially in football, representing deeply loyal communities, many of which do not have any professional teams,” said Dan York, DIRECTV’s Chief Content Officer. “The depth of SEC competition and the quality ESPN brings to game production and complementary programming makes SEC Network a valuable addition to our sports programming lineup, and we’re excited to bring it into our customers’ homes and on their devices.”

“Our agreement with DIRECTV continues to push the SEC Network towards one of the most successful network launches when it debuts on August 14,” said Sean Breen, Disney and ESPN Media Networks Senior Vice President, Affiliate Sales. “We’re proud to deliver the SEC Network nationwide via DIRECTV in advance of the Texas A&M and South Carolina game later this month.”

As the agreements started piling up for what should be the most successful college sports channel in history and DirecTV was not yet on board, it has caused a major stir among some of the most loyal college football fan bases in the country, and even caused some to leave the service in anticipation of the launch.

Well that is no longer necessary, and most cable providers are now in agreement with the SEC Network with this news.
