Have a Ray Rice jersey sitting around? You might want to pull it out of your closet and take it to a local bar or eatery considering many establishments are offering up free goods in exchange.

More from Baltimore Ravens

Of course, getting a free beer or pizza isn’t the only thing you can do with your Ray Rice jersey. In fact, a family in the Baltimore area decided they’d use Rice’s jersey to bring attention to domestic violence.

Understandably no longer wanting to wear the threads, the family pulled out some crafting supplies and began making some edits on the Ray Rice jersey worn by their six-year-old daughter. In the end, the ‘Rice’ nameplate on the back of the Baltimore Ravens uniform was changed to “be nice to girls”.

Bryan Bartlett, the father of six-year-old Bryann, explained the decision.

“We were just trying to decide what to do with our kids’ Ray Rice jerseys as we really didn’t feel we wanted them to wear them anymore. Everyone we saw online was cutting them up or things like that. We tried to come up with something a bit more positive and fun.”

Helping out in the creation was nine-year-old son Bryson, who along with his sister agreed that nobody should ever hit another person, especially a woman.

Not only was it a great idea on behalf of the family, it was a great way to spread a positive message and an excellent teaching tool for their children. Thumbs up, all around.
