Calvin Johnson on Adrian Peterson situation: Nobody tell me how to discipline my children
By Bryan Rose
It appears no matter how often a public relations official tells a professional athlete to be quiet, they just won’t listen. Case in point, Detroit Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson.

On Tuesday, Johnson’s Detroit Lions teammate Reggie Bush made waves when he spoke about disciplining his child in the wake of the Adrian Peterson scandal and now Calvin has raised eyebrows with his recent response.
Questioned about the Peterson incident, the Pro Bowl wide receiver suggested that nobody will tell him how to discipline his children. Normally that might not have been a statement that would have grabbed attention, though given the nature of the proceedings around the NFL it was something Calvin Johnson may regret saying.
Why Calvin Johnson even felt the need to comment is unknown as he would have been best served moving on to the next question. For whatever reason though, Megatron decided to put his foot in his mouth and now is likely to deal with the consequences.
Johnson of course is good friends with Adrian Peterson and is likely a bit frustrated with the backlash being directed at Peterson, though that probably wasn’t the best way to respond to the situation.
Certainly a rough day or two to be part of the Detroit Lions’ public relations team.
