The best college football team in the country right now from the state of North Carolina is not the North Carolina Tar Heels or the North Carolina State Wolfpack. No. The best team from North Carolina right now is the East Carolina Pirates, who have dominated the competition thus far.

One week after taking care of the Virginia Tech Hokies, they made this statement in a big way last week when they absolutely lit up the Tar Heels, 70-41. It was indeed a solid statement by the Pirates that they own the state.
One fan wanted everyone to know that, so he announced it the est way possible. With a billboard.

So now if you didn’t know how good the Pirates are, you will be reminded of it when you drive down the North Carolina highway.
In all seriousness, East Carolina has been impressive. Taking care of two of the top teams in the ACC Coastal division has had many jokingly ask if the Pirates can just be handed the division trophy by default, seeing how mediocre it really is this season in comparison to the Atlantic division.
With the way Shane Carden and the Pirates have been playing, there probably wouldn’t be too many people that would mind that.
