A prospective juror for the murder trial of former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez was sent home Friday after yelling “Go Pats”.

If you want to serve on a jury in America, you have to tread very lightly in the selection process and afterwards. That’s not what one fan did in the Aaron Hernandez trail this past week. A potential juror in the case was kicked off the jury for wearing his feelings about the case on his sleeves — literally.

The prospective juror was kicked off the jury after he showed up in court wearing a Boston Bruins jersey and at one point yelled ‘Go Pats’ during the proceedings.

So the Bruins jersey was technically the most offensive item, but it’s unlikely anyone was amused by the guy screaming “Go Pats” either.

Jury selection for the trial is set to begin on Friday, according to Sports Illustrated. A judge ruled on Tuesday that Hernandez’s mother and fiancee are allowed to attend the trial, despite the fact that they are on the list of witnesses by the prosecution. Both Hernandez’s mother, Terri Valentine Hernandez, and his fiancee, Shayanna Jenkins, testified before the grand jury that eventually indicted him. Jenkins is currently facing perjury charges for lying to the grand jury, but she pleaded not guilty and is free on bail for the moment.

The owner of the Patriots, Robert Kraft, and current head coach Bill Belichick are also on the witness list from the prosecution. Earlier, the judge in the case, Bristol Superior Court Judge E. Susan Garsh, ruled that prosecutors could not cover up the trophy case in Hernandez’s home when jurors visit during the trial.

Hernandez is on trial for allegedly killing a semi-pro football player named Odin Lloyd in 2013. Lloyd was dating Jenkins’ sister at the time of his murder. The trial is expected to go on for up to three months after jury selection is completed. Hernandez is also being accused of the 2012 murders of Daniel de Abreu and Safiro Furtado. The two supposedly spilled drinks on him in Boston-area nightclub and were found killed by shots fired into their vehicle after the incident. Hernandez has pleaded not-guilty to all charges in both cases.

Hernandez’s former team is gearing up to play the Baltimore Ravens on Friday in the AFC divisional round of the playoffs, probably the source of the dismissed juror’s fervor, unless he was just trying to get dismissed. The Patriots have gone 2-1 in their last three playoff meetings with the Ravens, the last one was in 2012 where they lost 28-13 as the Ravens went on to win the Super Bowl. The Patriots are obviously hoping for a different result this year and are using “on to Baltimore” as their team slogan, even though the game is in New England.
