Minnesota Timberwolves guard Shabazz Muhammad pulls off a nasty “in my own face” dunk.

Over time the slam dunk has evolved. Once all levels of basketball allowed the move to be legal, time ran its course and several different types of dunks were born.

First off, we have the classic dunk. This is the one handed smooth looking activity that takes very little effort and looks flawless.

Nobody pulled off this elegant type dunk better than Dr. J:

Then we have the big-man with authority dunk. Just picture Shaquille O’Neal or Darryl Dawkins:

Let’s move on to the athletic dunks:

Regardless of the type of dunk, over time these guys started to get so good that they started to dunk on their own head:

Now, today on February 11th of 2015, Minnesota Timberwolves guard Shabazz Muhammad has created a new style of slamming.

It’s called the “in your own face” dunk:

As you can tell, Muhammad brought it down with such force that he almost broke his own nose. Whiplash to his neck could have been a serious injury in this instance as his team lost to Golden State tonight.

We’ve the legendary Marv Albert call out “with the facial” hundreds of times in his career. Muhammad brings us an entirely new definition to that popularly coined phrase.
