The trip to the White House to meet and greet the President of the United States is just one of the many perks that comes with being at the top of your sport and being a champion. There were no conversations about foreign policy or anyone making political statements by refusing to go as this was a cause for celebration and celebrate they did.

In addition to the coaching staff and players from the championship team, former players like Cris Carter and two-time Heisman Trophy winning running back Archie Griffin were in attendance as was state senator Sherrod Brown.

While the players were thrilled to meet Obama, he was thrilled to see the only two-time Heisman winner in college football history saying at the end of his speech, “Hey, Archie Griffin’s here.”

Obama commended Meyer for his succession plan at quarterback with J.T. Barrett stepping up for the injured Braxton Miller and later Cardale Jones filling in for an injured Barrett in the Big Ten Championship Game, semifinal against Alabama and the title game against Oregon.

“And then we learn Cardale Jones is not your average-third string quarterback,” Obama said, via the Columbus DispatchObama also led an “OH-IO” cheer and called Ohio State a team that played well when it mattered the most and was a team of true character, true resilience.

With all three quarterbacks returning in 2015, Elliott a Heisman Trophy contender, if not the front-runner after the way he ended the season with one 200-yard game after another, Bosa arguably the best defensive player in the country and a host of underclassmen ready for their opportunity, the Buckeyes may find themselves in the White House again this time next year.

Ohio State closed their spring practice with the annual spring game in front of a spring game record 99,391 fans in the Horseshoe on Saturday. Cardale Jones threw for more than 300 yards and a pair of touchdowns to Corey Smith who went over the 100 yard receiving mark.
