Saturday night, after nearly a decade of waiting, the boxing world was finally treated to a fight featuring Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao. The fight that people have waited so long for finally happened inside the MGM Grand Garden Arena is Las Vegas.

Mayweather came into this one with an unblemished record of 47-0, while Pacquiao came in at 57-5-2. As it pertains to the boxing world, these two are considered the best pound-for-pound fighters of this generation.

After the entrances, the fight was underway, and to get things started, it was about everything we saw coming. These two were pretty evenly matched, although Manny was able to get some flurries in on Floyd, who was shaking him off with every one. Still, Pacquiao showed early that he can hang with the undefeated Mayweather, something people doubted he can do.

In the second half of the fight, though, Mayweather was able to begin pulling away like he usually does, as he started to limit the offense of Pacquiao severely. Manny was not able to get the offense in that he did early on in the bout.

This fight was not short of the pageantry, as was expected by everyone coming in. With a plethora of some of the biggest starts in attendance, when it was all said and done it was Floyd Mayweather who was able to come away with the unanimous decision (118-10, 116-112) and keep his undefeated record intact at 48-0.

Floyd fought Floyd’s fight, and in the end, it was successful once again, plain and simple.

While it was a valiant effort by Manny Pacquiao on this night, he just couldn’t get it done in the end in Vegas on Saturday.

Now we wait and see what the future holds for Mayweather, who continues his pursuit of Rocky Marciano’s mark of 49-0.
