After just 25 games of the 2015 MLB season, the Milwaukee Brewers have parted ways with manager Ron Roenicke after five seasons together.

It has been a rough go of things so far in the 2015 season for the Milwaukee Brewers as the team was expected to be serious contenders in the NL Central, yet they have barely been able to win every third game. It’s because of that awful 7-18 start to the year that the team has decided to part ways with five-year manager Ron Roenicke.

In his first season as Brewers manager, Roenicke had some serious success, finishing the season 96-66, which was the most wins in franchise history as well as the NL Central Division title — the first in team history.

Roenicke was brought in before the 2011 season and no one thought he would see the type of success that he actually had in his first year, breaking franchise records. Guys like Ryan Braun and Carlos Gomez have helped him take charge of one of the most formidable lineups in all of baseball.

The reason for his firing is simple, he hasn’t won lately. After an opening season in which his team won a record number of games, Roenicke failed to lead a talented, young team like the Brewers to the playoffs — never winning more than 83 games or finishing higher than third place in the Central Division.

Seeing Roenicke fired has to give his former players a sense of urgency as it looks like Milwaukee is more than serious about winning, and winning now. The goals and expectations were elevated for the 2015 season as Milwaukee was coming off an 82-win season, but the team has failed to do much of anything so far in 2015 with even Gomez struggling.

Actually, Gomez is a major reason for the team’s downfall so far as he has been on the disabled list for the past couple of weeks before returning on Saturday.

It has to be tough to see a manager get fired after spending five years with him, but the players will adjust and rest easy knowing their owner and GM will put the best guy in place for them to succeed and hopefully lead them to the playoffs for the first time since 2011.

Watch out for the Brewers in the coming weeks as they will be looking to add a dynamite manager and they’ll be playing with a major chip on their shoulders.
