Jim Irsay is one of the most polarizing owners in sports, and the Colts are holding one of the most misguided but well meaning promotions of the year.

Less than a year ago, Jim Irsay was arrested and subsequently charged for being in possession of prescription medication that did not belong to him. The uproar over the way the NFL handled the punishment for the pill popping owner was immediate but at the end of the day we were dealing with a man who had a serious problem.

Irsay has seemingly gotten better with his issues, but the latest Colts promotion could very easily come off as misguided.

Colts fans attending training camp on August 9th are being encouraged to bring their unused expired prescription medication and drop it off at a team sanctioned location. As a reward for turing in their drugs, fans will be given a 2014 Colts season highlights DVD.

This is a real thing.

"Fans that bring unused or expired Rx prescriptions for safe disposal on August 9th will be given a complimentary copy of the 2014 Colts highlight DVD titled “Knocking on the Door.”"

First off — a DVD? This is 2015, if you don’t have a way to watch Blu-ray yet then you need to get with the times. Also, the Colts can’t hand out Blu-ray copies of the 2014 season highlights? That’s like giving someone a VHS copy of the highlights package while smiling at them with a straight face.

The real reason this is noteworthy though is, of course, Jim Irsay’s connection to a prescription drug drive. It seems like a well meaning drive, as if there’s a man who knows about the dangers of abusing prescription drugs it’s Irsay. But this is just way too easy to make fun of — and that’s all on Irsay.
