Rutgers head coach Kyle Flood faces possible suspension or firing after a rules violation involving a player.

It’s a never ending stream of dopiness when it comes to violations in the NCAA and head coaches getting into trouble for crossing lines they’re not supposed to even flirt with. That’s the situation that Rutgers head coach Kyle Flood is in after he has been accused of a rules violation and could end up being fired because of it.

According to Keith Sergeant from NJ.com, the Rutgers head coach faces a suspension or possible firing after a rules violation this summer.

"Rutgers head coach Kyle Flood could face a suspension or firing because of impermissible contact with a university faculty member regarding the status of one of his players, two people with knowledge of the situation told NJ Advance Media."

Based on the report, it sounds like Flood tried to get into contact with a school official about the eligibility of cornerback Nadir Barnwell. The player is in danger of being ruled academically ineligible and Flood sending an email from his personal account to a school official regarding the eligibility of one of his players is a no-no.

What makes it an even bigger no-no is the fact that Flood might have been insinuating the request of improper benefits for Barnwell, in a way almost pressuring the school official to make sure that his player his academically eligible for the upcoming season.

These are the sorts of things that always burn head coaches and can put a dent in a program. We’ve seen it time and time again before and it’s a problem that clearly isn’t going to be getting solved anytime soon. There are no charges being brought against Flood at this moment, but there is an investigation being launched that may or may not turn up some things that could dampen this upcoming season for Rutgers before it can even get started.
