According to Bayern Munich honorary president, Franz Beckenbauer, Robert Lewandowski is a possible candidate for Real Madrid.

There has already been a ton of speculation about what changes will occur at Bayern Munich once Carlo Ancelotti takes over in the summer. With the Italian tactician confirmed to be replacing current boss, Pep Guardiola, at the end of the season, many reports have begun to emerge discussing what the roster will look like, once Ancelotti arrives in Bavaria.

There have been a plethora of rumors linking the club with a big-money move for Napoli striker, Gonzalo Higuain. On Wednesday, the team’s Polish international striker, Robert Lewandowski, even told media he wouldn’t be concerned in the least bit if the Argentine arrived in the summer.

However, the team’s honorary president, Franz Beckenbauer, made some interesting comments in a recent newspaper article.

"“Lewandowski is a possible candidate for Madrid,” AS reports Beckenbauer writing in a column in a German newspaper, via Football-Espana."

The 27-year-old has been in blistering form this season, scoring a remarkable 15 goals in 16 league matches. His continental record has been even more impressive, with seven goals in six UEFA Champions League games.

Considering Real Madrid were recently handed a one-year transfer ban though, it’ll be difficult for the Spanish giants to foster a move for the prolific striker. The Bundesliga outfit will not let Lewandowski go during the current transfer window, and Los Blancos may not be allowed to buy anyone in the summer.

Either way, with talk continuing to surround Lewandowski and his future at the Allianz Arena, it’ll be interesting to see how his situation plays out.
