The Toronto Maple Leafs take a 2-1 series lead over the Washington Capitals after Tyler Bozak scores the game-winning goal in overtime.

The Toronto Maple Leafs and Washington Capitals went to overtime for the third straight game in their playoff series. For the second consecutive game, the Maple Leafs walked away with the win, this time thanks to center Tyler Bozak.

The Leafs started the overtime period on the power play thanks to a Lars Eller high-sticking penalty at the end of regulation. Just over 90 seconds into the period, Bozak picked the loose puck up behind the net and passed it to Nazem Kadri. Kadri quickly moved the puck to the Morgan Rielly on the blue line. The defenseman gave the puck back to Kadri who skated down the boards and sent a centering pass to Bozak who redirected the puck passed Braden Holtby. After going into double overtime the night before, it took just 97 seconds to decide a winner in Game 3.

Inside the Air Canada Centre fans went crazy as Toronto won its first home playoff game in four years. Outside the arena, fans piled into Maple Leaf Square to watch the game on the massive screen on the outside of the Air Canada Centre. As soon as the Bozak scored, the cameras cut outside to a street full of Toronto fans in their blue jerseys jumping up and down.

The loss is particularly concerning for the Capitals. Over their history, Washington has gained a reputation as a team that always chokes in the playoffs. Down 2-1 in the series to the eighth seed is going to add even more pressure to the Caps. Game 4 of the series goes Thursday night in Toronto.
