Recently signed defensive end Osi Umenyiora is ready to take the field as a member of the Atlanta Falcons and become a difference maker for the team in 2013. The Falcons were a few steps away from reaching the Super Bowl just a season ago, and if you listen to Umenyiora you should believe they are ready to make another run.

During his time with the New York Giants, Umenyiora won a Super Bowl title twice, but those teams weren’t as talented as Umenyiora’s new squad. At least that’s what the veteran pass rusher seems to believe.

“A lot of times, being able to get to that game or win that game is not even about the coaches or the organization,” Umenyiora said, via ESPN.

This team is the most talented team I’ve seen in my life, probably. But it’s not going to be about coaching. It’s going to be about what the players are able to do, and you need that veteran leadership. You need guys who have been in those games and can tell you about exactly what happened.”

You can’t deny that the Falcons are loaded with talent and prepared to make a deep postseason run, but that is some awfully high praise from a player that is used to being a part of a great organization.

If Umenyiora’s evaluation of the Falcons roster is correct, there is no reason to view them as anything but the NFC favorite to reach the big game this season.

We know Umenyiora is a believer, but do you think Atlanta has what it takes to get to the top this season? Share your thoughts by sounding off in the comments section.
