Posturing? Trying to get the Los Angeles Clippers to offer up more compensation after the Celtics declined their offer of a future second round pick? Either way, it appears both the Boston Celtics and Doc Rivers (or at least his ‘camp’) believe that no trade will be made with the Clippers – this according to Yahoo’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Per Wojo:

"Celtics and Doc Rivers’ camp rapidly reaching belief there’s no deal to be made with Clippers. Rivers flying back to Orlando."

It’s a tough read. On one hand, after the NBA all but smashed the agreed upon trades, the two sides have had absolutely zero luck trying to figure out a way to get the scenarios complete. The Clippers initially refused to offer up any compensation for Rivers though they did finally bend and offer a future second round pick, which the Celtics declined as they want a first round pick.

On the other hand, how much longer can either team to afford to let this drag on? The Celtics need to make a decision on their future – do they cut Paul Pierce, trade away Kevin Garnett and let Doc Rivers walk? Or do they give it one more go? As for the Clippers, their potential head coaching candidates are only going to be available for a short amount of time. They can’t wait much longer to make a move.

It sounds like a resolution is near – hopefully.
