NFL Suspended Indianapolis Colts LaVon Brazill for Marijuana
By Bryan Rose
Late last month, the NFL suspended Indianapolis Colts wide receiver LaVon Brazill for violating the league’s substance abuse policy, but they didn’t announce how he violated it.
The Indianapolis Star though says Brazill was suspended due to a failed marijuana test.
Per Bob Kravitz:
"To me, LaVon Brazill is a somewhat different story, and if I was Grigson, I would take a harder line with the second-year wide receiver.Admittedly, what Lefeged did was far more dangerous than what Brazill did, which, sources tell me, was testing positive for smoking marijuana. Lefeged’s indiscretion involved drinking, drugs and guns. Brazill was only guilty of doing what millions of Americans do on a semi-regular basis."
As Kravitz later mentions in his piece, a four game ban for marijuana means you have to caught multiple times, so Brazill has been on the wrong end of the league’s substance abuse policy more than once.
The hand stance presented by Kravitz suggests that the Colts should simply cut Brazill, however, that’s unlikely to happen at this point. Though, he clearly has put a target upon himself if his performance in training camp isn’t up to par.
