It’s been a whirlwind few days for the New York Jets.

Just days after head coach Rex Ryan put quarterback Mark Sanchez in to ‘win’ a preseason game (in which he was hurt just moments later), relatively respected NFL and New York Jets writer Manish Mehta wrote a column suggesting that Ryan should be fired. This of course came after Ryan, who was none to pleased with Mehta’s line of questioning after the Jets’ most recent game, turned his back on Mehta while answering questions in his post-game press conference meltdown.

That lead to New Jersey Governor Chris Christie blasting Mehta on local radio, suggesting that he’s nothing more than an idiot and somebody that no Jets fan gives a damn about.

Per Bob’s Blitz:

"The only thing dumber than Rex Ryan playing Mark Sanchez this past weekend was the post-game presser that followed. Today, sitting in for Esiason on Boomer & Carton, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie weighed in on NY Daily News ‘ghost writer’ Manish Mehta.“Idiot. The guy’s a complete idiot. Self-consumed, underpaid, reporter. Who, by the way, I couldn’t pick out of a lineup and no Jets fan gives a damn about Manish Mehta.”“We shouldn’t be giving this dope, you know, the amount of airtime we’ve given him already.”"

Stay classy, Mr. Christie.
