The recovery timetable of Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le’Veon Bell has been a mixed bag.

When the rookie runner first went down with his foot injury, it wasn’t deemed very serious. Then all of a sudden it was deemed extremely serious, but then not so serious again. Then Bell didn’t practice. And he continued to miss practice and the Steelers and Bell admitted the injury was worse than originally anticipated. That likely lead to a Week 6 (or later) return, but unexpectedly Bell was a full participant in practice yesterday and again today.

He’s apparently feeling so good that he’s refusing to rule out a Week Three return, though, it seems very unlikely he’d see the field so soon.

Per Scott Brown:

"Le’Veon Bell practiced for 2nd day in a row and he isn’t ruling out playing Sunday. Big thing will be how his foot responds to Fri. practice"

Playing Sunday would be a relatively huge step in progress considering he wasn’t expected to return for another three weeks at minimum, according to his prognosis.

The Steelers have their bye in Week Five, so it’s possible the team may hold out Bell until Week Six but given their 0-2 start and absolutely dreadful running game, they may have no choice but to get him on the field soon as possible.
