When New England Patriots right tackle Sebastian Vollmer had his leg rolled up on during Sunday’s win over the Miami Dolphins, it was clear the end result was not going to be good. Vollmer was diagnosed with a broken right leg Monday morning and will be undergoing surgery, which will likely end his season.

"Per source, Patriots right tackle Sebastien Vollmer undergoing surgery today to repair broken bone in his right leg."

Vollmer, who was blocking had the pile of tacklers fall into the back of his leg, sending the offensive tackle to the ground. He immediately could be seen screaming in pain and was taken off the field via cart.

It’s a huge blow to the Patriots as Vollmer has graded out as one of the premier tackles in football this season, though, the team is hopeful they’ll be able to bring him back at some point before the year concludes. That might be wishful thinking, but the team will get a better picture of Vollmer’s recovery timetable once surgery is complete.
