On Sunday, the Denver Broncos will battle the Kansas City Chiefs for the second time this season in a pivotal AFC West battle. It’s possible they’ll be without starting running back Knowshon Moreno in the process as the Broncos tailback missed practice Wednesday dealing with what the team is calling a ‘significant bone bruise’.

"RB Knowshon Moreno, CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie; TE Joel Dreessen also missing practice."

Denver isn’t really giving much more information on Moreno’s injury, though, we did see the running back on crutches and in a walking boot after Sunday’s game against the Patriots in Week 12.

Obviously, that doesn’t bode well to Moreno’s Week 13 status against the Chiefs.

If Moreno is unable to suit up for the highly anticipated matchup, Montee Ball is expected to draw the start. He’d be doing so against a Chiefs linebacking core that is expected to see the return of Tamba Hali, though Justin Houston‘s return remains questionable at best.

Both the Broncos and Chiefs sit atop the AFC West at 9-2, with Denver winning the first matchup of the season in Week 11.
