No more than a few weeks ago, New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan informed his players that he would likely be fired at season end.

But before Ryan could make his way into the locker room after their season finale, he was awarded with a new one-year deal from owner Woody Johnson, shocking many in the process (likely even Ryan himself).

Now Woody is up to his antics again.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Rex Ryan and the Jets have agreed on a new multi-year contract extension:

"Jets and head coach Rex Ryan have reached agreement on a multi-year extension, according to team and league sources."

Terms of the deal have yet to be released.

The deal comes after reports leaked suggesting the Jets wanted Ryan to prove himself on a one-year deal and that no extension would be offered.

New York is coming off an 8-8 season which included winning three of their final four games of the 2013 season.

Ryan, 51, has been head coach of the Jets since 2009.
