The Seattle Seahawks were hoping to catch lightning in a bottle and have talented wide receiver Percy Harvin available on Sunday for their NFC Championship game against the San Francisco 49ers. It unfortunately won’t be happening as Harvin was ruled out by team doctors on Friday afternoon.

Per Adam Schefter:

"No surprise, but Seahawks WR Percy Harvin officially ruled out of Sunday’s NFC Championship Game."

Harvin did not practice on Thursday nor Friday (obviously) but the team was holding out hope that he would receive medical clearance before Sunday’s tilt.

The former Florida Gator took some nasty hits to the head during the Seahawks Divisional Round victory over the New Orleans Saints, forcing him from the action last week. But still unable to pass the NFL’s mandated concussion protocol tests, doctors were forced to officially rule him out.

In related news, Saints safety Rafael Bush (one of the players who hit Harvin) was fined $21,000 dollars by the NFL for the blow to the head on a defenseless player.

With Harvin out, Golden Tate, Doug Baldwin, and Jermaine Kearse are expected to see more action.
