Multiple teams are expected to get in on the Jared Allen free agent bonanza, but former NFL scout and director of pro personnel Louis Riddick believes the highest bidder is going to have a sense of buyer’s remorse.

Allen, 32, has recorded 45.5 sacks the past three seasons and has continued to be a force on the defensive line (though was a little less effective this season, statistically) but Riddick seems to feel the inevitable fall from grace will be coming soon.

"With Jared, I see a player with diminishing get-off quickness, an inability to win on the edge against quality competition without benefiting from the QB holding the ball too long, marginal stamina as an every-down end and an average point-of-attack run defender that does not play with a consistent level of competitiveness."

Ouch – no punches held there.

Allen, who most recently played for the Minnesota Vikings is expected to be courted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Vikings are not expected to make an attempt to retain the services of Allen.
