The Houston Texans introduced their coaching staff this morning, but noticeably absent was the addition of an offensive coordinator.

There were rumors circulating that the Texans would not hire an offensive coordinator to work under head coach Bill O’Brien, rumors that were confirmed today.

"As expected, O’Brien, who will call plays on offense, won’t have an offensive coordinator, at least for the first year he coaches."

It’s a little odd to see a rookie NFL coach not have an offensive coordinator during their freshman campaign, but O’Brien is used to calling plays on his own considering he has done so the past two seasons with Penn State.

Despite the rough 2013 campaign, the Texans return a similar offense to the one that ranked seventh in the NFL in 2012, so O’Brien will certainly have a solid crew to work with as he attempts to pull double duty

Overall, the Texans added 16 new members to their coaching staff including Jim Bernhardt, O’Brien’s right hand man who will serve as director of football research.
