Listen to NFL commissioner Roger Goodell enough and you’d think he’s a bit of a popper.

No, he’s not going to tell anybody that he’s poor by any stretch, but he tends to make his pay seem worse than it really is.

Life must be pretty tough then considering the head of the shield brought home an impressive $44.2 million dollars during the fiscal year in 2012.

Per ESPN:

"THIS JUST IN: NFL commissioner Roger Goodell made $44.2 million in 2012 fiscal year, according to league tax returns."

Think about that – Goodell made almost $45 million dollars in a single year. Now think about the players putting their body and future on the line. Sure, you have your big name talents like Peyton Manning or Tony Romo bringing in bank, but what about the third string defensive backs who grind just to make a roster or the practice squad running back who spends his day working a normal 9-5 and likely isn’t cracking $30,000 dollars in a year.

Not to disregard what Goodell does, but I have a hard time believing it’s worth $44.2 million dollars every year.
