Could Evan Turner be headed to the Miami Heat? Seems like it would be a bit of a coup for Miami, but it’s a possibility according to Sam Smith of Bulls.com who suggests the Heat have the trade chips to get such a deal done.

"But Miami has the extra pieces to get a deal done for Turner with Haslem and perhaps James Jones. They can deliver a pick, which they never use."

The Philadelphia 76ers have been asking for a lottery pick for Turner, but that’s never going to happen so a mid-to-late first round pick seems like the most likely possibility for the Sixers.

Philadelphia has no plans to re-sign Turner at season end (who is a restricted free agent) and needs to get something of value for him, which Miami’s first round pick will provide.

However, Miami doesn’t have the financial ability to bring in Turner as the only player they’d likely move (with a similar salary to Turner) is Udonis Haslem, who still has two years left on his deal. So if such a move was made, it would likely need to include a third team for financial reasons.

Miami does also own a trade exception, however it’s only worth $2 million dollars while Turner is making upwards of $6 million.
