The Carolina Panthers were looking to add some speed and agility to their team and they’ve done so, though, the addition shockingly isn’t on the offensive side of the ball.

With what could only be deemed as a laughable core of wide receivers, the Carolina Panthers will continue to dip their feet through the free agent pool looking for offense, but today they added defense as it’s expected cornerback Antoine Cason will soon sign with the team.

Per Kent Somers of AZCentral:

"Hearing Antoine Cason will sign w/Panthers soon. Javier Arenas to Atl tuesday. #azcardinals didn’t try to re-sign Cason."

Cason of course spent last season with the Arizona Cardinals after signing a one-year deal with the team, though didn’t start any games.

It’s possible the relationship between Cason and Carolina Panthers head coach Ron Rivera may play a role in Cason signing as the six-year veteran worked under Rivera when both were members of the San Diego Chargers.

Financial details of the assumed/presumed deal have yet to be released.
