What do you get as a birthday gift for the person (or website) that has everything? Likely nothing, which is why they’re often forced to come up with their own present.

Social media website Twitter is no different and to celebrate their 8th birthday, they’ve released a tool that will allow anybody to go back into the archives and find the first tweet of a user account.

This probably won’t be overly beneficial moving forward, but for pure nostalgic purpose it’ll be a fun tool to play around with for a few minutes.

Case in point? A user at Deadspin found out that at one time, you could have purchased the Dallas Cowboys Twitter account.

Of course, some smart entrepreneur likely decided to scoop that name up with the idea of selling it if the newly based social media site ever blew up. And boy, did it ever.

Not sure whatever happened to the account but the real Dallas Cowboys did eventually end up with it and I’m going to assume there was probably some cash involved.

Smooth move.
