The Houston Texans are on the clock, but one player they need to avoid is former Texas A&M signal caller Johnny Manziel.

That’s the word of legendary NFL running back Emmitt Smith who told David Nuno of ABC13 that the Texans simply have invested too much in quarterback’s and need to look elsewhere.

"Emmitt Smith says he wouldn’t go Manziel if he were the texans. Says they’ve invested too much on QB’s"

It’s a bit of an odd comment considering the Texans aren’t exactly overflowing with quarterback options as we speak and what they’ve done in the past really has nothing to do with their future as they’ve cleared off mistake salaries.

Smith did tell Nuno that he keeps up more with his Cowboys than the Texans (obviously) and is more focused on his former team, but just doesn’t see Manziel as the best available options for the Texans.

That remains to be seen – but how say you, FanSided? Does Emmit have a point? Texans need to look elsewhere? Or is Manziel the franchise talent they need?
