Not producing up to expectations, the Tennessee Titans have asked defensive end Kamerion Wimbley to take a pay cut – this according to Jim Wyatt.

"The #Titans have asked DE Kamerion Wimbley to take a pay cut (sked to make $6M). He is mulling it over now"

Wimbley will be entering the third year of his five year deal scheduled to pay him $35 million dollars but the Titans would like some cap room, especially given Wimbley’s sub-par play in comparison to his deal.

It’s not known if the Titans will look to release Wimbley if he doesn’t accept the pay cut, but given he’s mulling it over, you have to think there’s some type of issue boring if he doesn’t accept it.

Releasing Wimbley would save the Titans around $2.5 million dollars, but would force about $5.4 million in dead money to be eaten.

Needless to say, it’s not exactly an enviable position for either side and they might be best served by Wimbley agreeing on a pay cut, allowing him to remain on the team and the Titans to save some cash.
