OMAHA! OMAHA! OMAHA! That is the audible call that we heard over and over again as Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos offense dominated headlines leading up to the Super Bowl.

More from Detroit Lions

This year, we may not need to rely solely on Manning and company to bring us the call.

According to reports, the fact that Manning’s former coach Jim Caldwell and ormer Indianapolis Colts offensive assistant Jim Bob Cooter are both now with the Detroit Lions means that the terminology that gained so much popularity could become prominent in the NFC.

Yes, Matthew Stafford could soon be screaming “Omaha!”

“It’s been around a long time,” veteran backup Dan Orlovsky said, via Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press. “I think different teams use it in different capacities. I’ve used it before in a different way. That’s part of it, too, is re-wiring your brain for what it means.”

This is just what we need, right?

We heard the call far too many times in 2013 and now we will have to watch out for yet another quarterback screaming out what has become Nebraska’s favorite city.

The Lions will now have to hope that Stafford can become as successful as Manning with his play and not just his calls.
