The Oakland Raiders went through a bit of a re-tooling process this offseason, bringing in a handful of veteran players who they hope will give them a better shot at competing in the tough AFC West.

They’re going to need them as not only do the Raiders have the most difficult schedule in the NFL this season in regards to the winning percentages of their opponents from last season, they also travel the most miles of any team and it’s not even close.

In fact, the Raiders travel schedule is so bad they’ll fly more miles than four NFL teams (Steelers, Browns, Bengals and Titans)  – combined.

Oakland is set to travel a league-high 36,106 miles, a far greater number than the Seattle Seahawks who rank second in the NFL with 26,144 miles.

Of course, playing a game in London doesn’t help Oakland but multiple cross-country flights aren’t exactly the type of thing you want to put your team through.

As for the Raiders upcoming schedule, their opponents won an impressive .578 percentage of their games last season, even higher than that of the Denver Broncos and Seattle Seahawks who will play teams with a .570 and .561, respectively.

If there’s any silver lining for Raiders fans, it’s that cross-Bay rival, the San Francisco 49ers had a horrific travel schedule in 2013 though played well enough to find themselves in the NFC Championship game.

Still, not exactly an enviable situation for Raider Nation.
