LG has unveiled its newest flagship smartphone, the LG G3. The reveal came during a press event on Tuesday in London.
The 5.5-inch device is one of the first mainstream devices to feature a Quad HD display, which has a resolution of 2560 x 1440 and a pixel density of 538 ppi (pixels-per-inch). It will also feature a removable 3,000mAh battery that supports wireless charging as a way to, hopefully, counteract the high need for power that the Quad HD display will require.
It runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor with four cores at 2.5GHz a piece. The phone will come with either 2GB or 3GB of internal memory, and will have internatl storage ranging from 16GB to 32GB.

The phone has a 13-megapixel camera that includes optical image stabilization, laser-assisted auto-focus and dual-LED flash. The auto-focus, LG says, is similar to the radar technology that police departments use, which allows less time to focus on subjects. There is also a 2.1-megapixel camera on the front of the device that has a wide aperture.
In regards to the devices user interface, LG has overhauled the look of the device. Running Android 4.4.2 KitKat, the G3 features a flatter looking UI that will closely resemble native android. LG also made default backgrounds match the color of the device that users select. The available colors are Metallic Black, Silk White, Shine Gold, Moon Violet and Burgundy Red.
The G3 will also feature a Knock Code security feature that allows users to unlock the phone with a series of taps. Content Lock will enable users to make individual files more secure. Finally, the Kill Switch feature lets users remotely wipe all data from the phone should it be lost or stolen.
In addition to the flagship G3, LG is planning on releasing a smartwatch alongside the phone later this year.
