TUF Brazil 3 Finale results: Warlley Alves wins TUF Brazil Middleweight crown

The TUF Brazil 3 middleweight and heavyweight tournament finals are just about to get underway. First up is the middleweight finale between Team Sonnen teammates Marcio Alexandre and Warlley Alves.

Head coach Chael Sonnen has put high expectations on this fight, saying that he expects Warlley Alves to fight for a UFC middleweight or welterweight title by the end of next year. Putting aside the hyperbole, Alves looked sensational during the TUF Brazil season. In three fights, Alves had two sensational finishes and looked better in every successive fight. Tonight he looks to become the TUF Brazil 3 winner by defeating his teammate Marcio Alexandre.

Marcio Alexandre goes by the nickname “Lyoto” because his striking style mirrors that of No. 1 middleweight contender, Lyoto Machida. Alexandre showed his grit and determination in grinding out two hard fought split decision wins during the season. He looks to upset Alves tonight and claim sole possession of TUF Brazil champion.

Round 1: They touch gloves to start. Head kick from Alexandre is blocked. Overhand right from Alves knocks down Alexandre and he is staggered. Alves trying to pour it on, but Alexandre gets back to his feet and has his back on the cage. Alexandre eats two knees to the stomach. Left hand from Alves inside. Alexandre breaks out and Alves throws a head kick and right hand. Alexandre is pushed right back to the fence, tries a judo trip but can not get it. Alves with a big slam takedown right into side control. Elbows from Alves, but Alexandre works back to his feet again. Alves clinches Alexandre on the fence again. Alexandre with knees in the clinch while Alves throws foot stomps. The ref breaks them up, and Alves lands a hard body kick. Alexandre with a front kick to the body. Wheel kick from Alves followed up with a right hand. Alves with another strong takedown. Alexandre fights to his feet again, but eats a few left hands. Knees from Alexandre. The fight ends on the fence in the clinch. 10-9 Alves

Round 2: Big straight left from Alexandre to start. Alexandre misses a head kick and Alves lands a hard body kick. They exchange and Alves with another takedown. Alves postures up and rains down hard right hands. Alves again lands a few heavy right hands. Alves gets up, but hammers Alexandre with a hard kick to his body on the mat. Alves back into half guard, but Alexandre scrambles to his feet. Body kick from Alves and he clinches Alexandre to the fence again. They exchange knees.The pace has slowed as they are on the fence and the referee separates them. Alexandre with a hard body kick, but Alves catches it and clinches Alexandre on the fence once again. Referee breaks it up again. Stiff left hand from Alexandre. They swing and miss, Alves gets the clinch again and that is the end of the round. 10-9 Alves

Round 3: They hug at the start. Stiff left from Alexandre. Counter right hand from Alves hurts Alexandre very badly. Alexandre jumps in for a takedown and Alves snatches onto a deep guillotine. Before Alexandre has even a second to tap he is unconcious. What a finish from Warlley Alves. He is the TUF Brazil middleweight tournament winner.
