Washington Nationals superstar Bryce Harper, currently out with a thumb injury, is spending the vast majority of his days at home rehabbing by playing Playstation 4. No seriously, he is.

More from Dallas Cowboys

But you can’t spend all your time inside, so Harper decided he’d enjoy a little fun time this weekend and head to the National Zoo in D.C.

A fine choice, of course, though Harper might have wanted to re-think his wardrobe choice as he was spotted wearing a Dallas Cowboys hat in Washington Redskins country, a very odd choice given his locale.

Of course, the Cowboys and Redskins have a heated rivalry and being Harper is the face of the Nationals franchise, he might be best served wearing the logo of any other NFL team outside of the Cowboys.

In fairness to Harper, he has long maintained his fandom of the Cowboys but the problem? He was born and lived in Las Vegas, so it’s not as if he has some geographical tie to the franchise. Of course, you don’t need one to be a fan but when you pick the Yankees, Cowboys and Lakers as your favorite teams much like LeBron James did, it’s going to raise a few eyebrows.

At least Harper avoided wearing the hat of another baseball team, unlike San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick who set off a firestorm when he wore a Miami Dolphins hat last year.

Seriously though, Bryce. Any other team would have done. It’s like pouring salt on the open wounds of Redskins fans.
