The 2015 college football recruiting cycle is just beginning to heat up, but that hasn’t stopped schools from focusing even further in to the future. It also hasn’t stopped recruiting services from evaluating and ranking members of the 2016 class too.

On Friday, 247Sports updated its rankings for the class of 2016 and there was one addition to the ranks of the 5-star prospects. That would be quarterback Malik Henry, whose performance at the Sound Mind Sound Body camp in Detroit this past weekend pushed him in to the elite of the elite for the first time.

According to 247Sports, Henry has over 15 offers from major programs already and more keep coming. Big-name schools like Michigan, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Tennessee, Texas A&M, UCLA, USC, and Wisconsin have all already offered the pro-style quarterback out of Thousand Oaks (Westlake), Calif.

Henry is now the No. 1-ranked pro-style quarterback, the No. 1-ranked player in California and the No. 5-ranked overall player in the country according to 247Sports’ composite rankings.

Notre Dame website, BlueGoldIllustrated.com, was on hand for the Sound Mind Sound Body camp and featured these highlights:

Henry’s recruitment will be very interesting because he’s not only an elite quarterback, but he’s looking to be a two-sport star a la Jameis Winston. So, any school looking to add him will have to allow him to play both sports, at least from the start. Reports ($) have Henry scheduled to make a commitment around this time next year, so it will be awhile before we know the destination for the nation’s best pro-style quarterback in the 2016 class.
