NBA Draft Rumors: Philadelphia 76ers interested in Joel Embiid with No. 3 pick
By Bryan Rose
The Philadelphia 76ers are said to be interested in obtaining another top ten draft pick, likely one that is sandwiched somewhere between the picks they already have. Yes, if they’re able to do so, that would give them three picks in the top ten as they currently already own No. and No. 10.

Needless to say, the Sixers appear intent on re-building their roster quickly and believe the deep 2014 NBA Draft is a good place to do so. But who exactly are they interested in? Some have suggested that the Sixers could look into drafting Dante Exum, despite already having Michael Carter-Williams on the roster while others believe it’s possible they could take Andrew Wiggins or Jabari Parker. However, thanks to the injury suffered by Joel Embiid, it’s unlikely that either Wiggins or Parker will be available when the Philadelphia 76ers No. 3 pick comes up.
So what are they to do? Possibly draft Embiid, despite his lingering foot injury? Seems a little out there, but Bob Cooney reports that the 76ers are ‘very interested’ in drafting Joel Embiid if he was to fall to them.
Given what has been leaked, it seems very likely that Embiid will be available come the third pick as neither the Cleveland Cavaliers or Milwaukee Bucks, who own the top two selections, seem very comfortable taking a risk on the former Kansas product.
Of course, it could be nothing more than a smoke screen on behalf of the Sixers as they attempt to scare teams drafting behind them, say like the Orlando Magic, who are rumored to potentially have ideas of drafting Embiid with the No. 4 pick and trading him to the Boston Celtics for Dante Exum.
